The Pattern

A few weeks back Jim gave us this scripture and it has been part of a few of our meetings since.

"Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil." - Proverbs 4:23-27

We have been given a request by our father to take his hand and a glimpse of the path and the riches he has and wants to give us http://blog.scilla.org.uk/2009/10/word-from-yahshua.html

We have been reminded how to guard our hearts and the way of a firm path http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Titus+2&version=NIV

Today we hear about praising god for the eternal things, the things that will last the things that have real importancein the kingdom. Amongst this is a prayer:

18. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints

Our heart is our essential being it is who we are and we are to guard this being because this is where our life is.

I felt compelled to read further.

Epesians 3
16. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17. so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18. may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19. and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.


Through our faith Jesus is a part of our essential being, Our heart (our being) is amazingly linked to Jesus. His holy spirit lives within us. He is the wellspring of eternal life. We partake of his life as we partake of his death, as we die to our selfish desires we can live to his selfless desires. In both books there are numerous things we are instructed that we need to guard our hearts from.
Our eyes need to focus on Jesus. Following him, not looking right or left. Through the spirit we need to see things as our heavenly father sees them that his light will give understanding and the eternal perspective on our journey with our father holding our hand. Reading a bit further, although I don’t understand it i feel this "attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ" is a part of that inheritance.

Ephesians 4
to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.


31 but those who hope in the LORD
Will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
They will run and not grow weary,
They will walk and not be faint.


This verse has been repeated a few times recently, I know its popular and well known but I think God is trying to tell me something here. This isn’t the translation of this that I am used to (I am used to wait) so did quick search and found this:
Yet, the strength of those who wait with hope in the LORD will be renewed. and this Wesley's Notes: 40:31 Wait - That rely upon him. Renew - Shall grow stronger and stronger.
This seems to give this so much more meaning to it than I have ever had before. It is now active and continuous.
